The first PhD in Industry initiative by the Cyprus Hydrocarbons Company (CHC), in collaboration with the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) and funded by the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF), has successfully reached its mid-scope milestone. The project focuses on optimizing sour gas processing for offshore deepwater applications in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Leveraging advanced simulation technologies, the research has already shown promising results in water-scrubbing processes on floating offshore facilities, as well as in modeling emissions across both air and sea. These developments aim to ensure compliance with stringent environmental and safety standards.
Ultimately, the project seeks to deliver a user-friendly decision-support tool that will not only expand technical knowledge in offshore sour gas processing but also provide valuable support to operators, technology providers, contractors, and regulators across the sector.
