On the 7th June 2019, the Cyprus Hydrocarbons Company (CHC) in collaboration with CYMEPA, AKTI Project and Research Centre and the Primary School of Pyla cleaned the CTO Beach in Pyla. In total, 66 volunteers (50 students, 16 adults) cleaned 100 meters of the coastline by collecting 22Kg of waste, mainly cigarette butts, plastic and glass bottles, straws, plastic and metal caps, ropes, and papers.
CHC is continuously acting on its Corporate Social Responsibilities and strongly believes in taking on initiatives regarding the protection of the environment and the promotion of an environmental protection culture.
The interaction with the CYMEPA and AKTI was an opportunity to get informed on the ongoing activities towards the protection of the Mediterranean and Cypriot coastlines and allowed CHC to inform on the country’s actions towards sustainable exploration and future exploitation of hydrocarbon reserves found/to be found in the Cypriot EEZ. The enthusiasm and engagement of the children of Pyla Primary School in the activities is an example to us all.
